Enveloping it is the atmosphere-

Balancing the vital elements-

The air, fire and water cycle-

 To ensure life keeps flourishing-

 Upon this vast  planet.

   And the seamless blue sky  -

   Overlooking  like an angel -

   Is Sending light and warmth -

   From its  heavenly lamps -

    The glorious Sun and Moon.

     Being alive herein -

    With  such unique gifts assured  -

     Isn't an ultimate blessing -

     To feel truly grateful to-

     The Supreme  Provider?

Horrors of war

       Scenes from the war zone!!

      Missile and rockets darting

      from one side to the other,

      Making the sky tremble 

      No less than the earth below.

       Houses and tall buildings,

      Crumbling down like pack of cards,

      Debris piled up on the ground,

      Silent proof of utter devastation,

       Caused by insane minds.

        Hapless victims praying for life,

        In the wake of unimaginable plight,

         Keep asking themselves and others,

       " What crime or sin did we commit,

         To deserve this  inhuman torture? "

        What evil spirit  did  initiate,

        This mad, mad, misadventure,

        Thrusting unsuspecting lives,

        Into the blazing  flames  of

      Excruciating pain and death?

       But what I seek to know is not,       

       Who to blame for this bloody venture,

        Nor does it  interest me to learn,

         Who is losing ground in the battle,

        Or,  who is likely to emerge the winner.

       For, I know it's never going to end,

          As hatred begets hatred only,

         And revenge with its deadly teeth,

         Is ever on prowl to dig out again,

        What appears to have been  buried.

          But my heart instinctively goes 

        Beyond the  visuals on TV screen 

           Imagining the fate of those abducted

           Destined to undergo untold sufferings

            For no fault of theirs.

            I know its rather futile to hope 

            An early end to this ugly warfare

          But do wish some miracle to happen

         Concluding it in amicable solutions 

         To avoid  further loss of  precious lives

A covid time poem

   Welcome, August!

 May you be a harbinger of happy change

  Relief, resilience and restoration

  To the  human race suffering

  Under the pangs of a calamity

  Never known before.

  

   May the good times return soon

  And life wear its familiar colors again

   Flourish, as it has been doing for ages

 Under the loving care of the sun

    And mother Nature! 

चिर-स्मरणीया माँ

     चिर - स्मरणीया माँ!

 तुम्हें याद करने के लिए मुझे,

किसी  विशेष दिन की नहीं अपेक्षा,

 स्मृति पटल पर अंकित  हो  तुम,

जीवन के एक अंग की तरह  ही,

 अविच्छिन्न रूप से सम्मिलित हो तुम 

 मेरे सम्पूर्ण अस्तित्व में, क्योंकि,

 महसूस करती हूँ तुम्हारा प्रभाव सदैव 

अपने हर विचार और व्यवहार में.

 कठिन परिस्थितियों में  भी जब सहज रहकर

   करती हूँ  प्रयास संघर्ष-रत  रहने  का 

  जाने -अनजाने तुम्हारे  पद चिन्होँ पर ही 

   मैं भी तो  निर्भय चल  रही होती हूँ.

 किसी का भी दुःख देख, सुन, कर  

 विचलित हो  उठता है जब मेरा मन ,

 तब,तुम्हारी सहज करुणा का उद्रेक ही तो,

  छलक आता  आँखों  में अश्रु  बनकर.

 कहीं भी क्रूरता और अन्याय के विरुद्ध,

  दृढ़ता से मुखरित होते मेरे स्वर,

  तुम्हारी ही न्याय प्रियता को तो, 

 प्रतिध्वनित  करते  हैं घनीभूत  होकर.

   

     कुछ शुभ घटित होने पर, अनायास ही,

    जुड़ जाते  हैं हाथ , उस परम-पिता के प्रति , 

     नत -मस्तक  हो आभार  प्रकट  करने में,

      तुम्हारा ही अनुसरण करती हूँ मैं,

                अविस्मरणीया माँ! 

                      

April Showers

    "April showers  bring May flowers " true,

     But it's already  half -past March,

     And not a speck of clouds in the sky,

      Can it rain without them, ever?

    

     Yet, I hope they'll  flash on the horizon soon

     As big waterbags bursting into showers

     Giving all the plants and trees  their due

     Neglecting not even a blade of grass.

         An unyielding optimist  I am

        Like any of my simple village folk,

       Who are kind and strong in their faith,

       Loving Nature and God in any situation.

         My faith, too, is as unfaltering,

        Can neither be shaken nor shattered, 

       With questions or disheartening doubts,

       Prior to or post a life experience.
