Horrors of war

       Scenes from the war zone!!

      Missile and rockets darting

      from one side to the other,

      Making the sky tremble 

      No less than the earth below.

       Houses and tall buildings,

      Crumbling down like pack of cards,

      Debris piled up on the ground,

      Silent proof of utter devastation,

       Caused by insane minds.

        Hapless victims praying for life,

        In the wake of unimaginable plight,

         Keep asking themselves and others,

       " What crime or sin did we commit,

         To deserve this  inhuman torture? "

        What evil spirit  did  initiate,

        This mad, mad, misadventure,

        Thrusting unsuspecting lives,

        Into the blazing  flames  of

      Excruciating pain and death?

       But what I seek to know is not,       

       Who to blame for this bloody venture,

        Nor does it  interest me to learn,

         Who is losing ground in the battle,

        Or,  who is likely to emerge the winner.

       For, I know it's never going to end,

          As hatred begets hatred only,

         And revenge with its deadly teeth,

         Is ever on prowl to dig out again,

        What appears to have been  buried.

          But my heart instinctively goes 

        Beyond the  visuals on TV screen 

           Imagining the fate of those abducted

           Destined to undergo untold sufferings

            For no fault of theirs.

            I know its rather futile to hope 

            An early end to this ugly warfare

          But do wish some miracle to happen

         Concluding it in amicable solutions 

         To avoid  further loss of  precious lives
