SPRING IN THE PANDEMIC TIME ..

          This afternoon I was awakened,
           From my daydreaming,
By the sweet " Koo- hoo" of a koel,
          Coming from the mango orchard.

I could also feel the touch,
          Of warm spring air,
          Laden with the fragrance,
          Of freshly blooming flowers.

         And suddenly I realised,
        That Spring must have made,
         Its advent on the earth,
         To help Nature begin,
         Her business of regeneration.

             The birds knew it already,
The trees and flowers knew it,,
And so did the bees and butterflies,
Only I failed to notice the change.

Scared as I was by the presence,
             Of an invisible marauder,
             Lurking around threateningly,
               Striking anyone unawares.

The cruel killer hits all and sundry,
             Without the least regard,
For age or gender; religion or nation
Making anyone victim of its evil design

There is no time for outside revelries,
            No scope for any celebrations,
            Social gatherings have been postponed,
Till good times make a comeback.

            Meanwhile, let's calmly assume,
That this year Spring has arrived,
Just to keep our hopes alive,
Even in these gloomiest of times.

To help us feel a little less dismal,
                A little less frightened,
               And a lot more strong,
                 Than ever before.

              To fight this unprecedented war,
Where no arms or weapons would help,
Where our very existence is at stake,
And the enemy isn't even visible.
